Video Difference Marker
Compare two video versions and add Resolve markers where visual changes occur.
Select reference and updated clips, run a two-stage visual comparison, and turn detected differences into markers for a focused human QC pass.
What it does for you
- Stack two versions of a cut and get a marker on every visual change.
- Finds swapped shots, regrades, added text and logos; identical stretches get no marker.
- Two-pass scan: a fast pass finds changed ranges, a frame-accurate pass places the markers.
- Runs FFmpeg in the background with a progress bar and a Cancel button.
Requirements
- DaVinci Resolve Studio 19.1 or newer (the free version of Resolve blocks script windows).
- Windows 10/11 and macOS 12+ (Apple Silicon and Intel). One file works on both.
- FFmpeg (Windows: winget install Gyan.FFmpeg, macOS: brew install ffmpeg).
- Install: copy the .lua file into Resolve's Scripts/Utility folder, then open it from Workspace > Scripts.
- Tested on Windows 11 with Resolve Studio 21.1 and on macOS 15 (script code paths). Email support if anything breaks.
